Along with the larger spline on the outer stub also featured in the level below, they feature larger CV joints on the diff side. Standard E36/E46/E8X/E9x non-m axles feature a 6x86mm CV joint. This is strong, but will start to fail when adding big power and aggressive driving like drifting. E36 and E46 M3 models have a larger 6x94mm CV.
To me an e46 m3 price is very cheap and anyone that really wants one can afford one. Face it if you can afford a new car of any kind you can afford an M3. Heck you can afford 2 e46 m3's for the price of most new cars. The article makes it sound like the m3 is super expensive and out of most shoppers reach.
I think we should have a tread that lists the curb weights of the different cars. I just did a quick search and didn't find one. So: M3 CSL: Just under 3080lb = 1397kg [ automobilemag.com] M3 Stock: 3415 lb = 1549kg [Wikipedia] 330Ci: 3285lb = 1490kg (AT = 3362/1525) [Manual] 330i: 328Ci: 328i:
For starters, your statement about E46 M3's only coming in manual is only half right. They come in 6MT and SMG, where the SMG shifts for you. It's more of a manual transmission than an automatic. The E46 M3 did get a facelift (2003.5). Just not like non-m e46's where headlights, among other things were changed.

Standard US 330Ci had 225hp, but that doesn't matter, since we are "comparing" M-sport, which US never got and ZHP which Europe never got. All I'm saying, M-sport was "performance" variant of a 330Ci for the rest of the world. ZHP actually means perfomance package, while M-sport doesn't. "In a real world" there's very little difference between
There are quite a few things that are different besides displacement of the 325 and 330. However, both engines share the same block! The 330 I believe has a different crankshaft as well as pistons. The 330 throttle body is drive-by-wire which depending on who you talk to, is either good or bad. Mr.Motorwerk. Save. bmwti · #15 · Nov 7, 2004 (Edited) the engine found in the e36 (US) M3 and the engine found in the e46 M3's are two different engines entirely. the US e36 m3 engine- known as the M50 B30 was single vanos, while the later e46 330 engine (m54) was double vanos, and had a fully electronic butterfly. but if you do go all M3 parts, the front fenders will flare out more than the stock rear fenders. you can get 330 fenders and then re-mold the sides of the M3 bumper and fit them on (they flare too much where it meets the fender). It'll be a lot smoother and OEM looking. You can adjust stock 330 fenders to accompany the M3 hood if u want to, too. 1ODa7.
